APO Composer in Residence

 

Submissions are invited for this fixed term contract position – 1 October 2013 to 30 September 2015.

The submission should include:

  • Cover letter stating why the composer would like to hold this two-year residency
  • Proposal for the major commissioned work (approx one page)
  • Representative examples of the composer’s orchestral work (approx 3 scores and sound recordings).

Orchestra Vacancies

 

 Concertmaster

 
Expressions of interest are invited for this fixed term contract position available from 2014

Interested persons are invited to send the following;

  • Up-to-date and detailed CV or Resume
  • A minimum of two references
  • A representative DVD recording

 

Update: Provided a good quality video recording is submitted by the applicant  the APO will also accept further supporting audio-only material.

 

Shortlisted musicians will be brought to New Zealand to perform an audition and short trial period and with the APO during the 2013 season.

 
The deadline for applications (including recordings) is Friday 31 May 2013. However applications will be assessed as they are received and trial periods are available from March 2013

 

The next scheduled date for assessment of applications is 19 April at 10.00am NZ time

All applications for assessment on the 19th of April must be received by 18 April, 5.00pm NZ time.

Casual Positions

With the exception of annual casual string auditions (usually in February), there are no set dates for casual auditions. Live auditions are scheduled at mutually suitable times throughout the year, or you may be invited to send a recording. Either way your details will be held on file until the orchestra has a need for more casual players of your instrument.

 

 

 

 

 

What we mean when we say “Open to New Zealand and Australian Citizens and Residents”

These positions are currently only open to applicants who have the legal right to work in New Zealand. This may include holders of NZ work permits depending of the specific details of the work permit. Please check with the Orchestra Manager in this instance. This position will only become open to international applicants if it is not able to be filled at this audition. If the position goes to an international round, an announcement will be made on our Web site.

This position is open to applicants of any nationality.
