Unwrap Mendelssohn
Graham Abbott PRESENTER
Mendelssohn Symphony No.4 (‘Italian’)
Mendelssohn’s sunny ‘Italian’ Symphony was inspired by his tour of Europe where the colour and atmosphere of Italy provoked a most positive mood.
Graham Abbott illustrates with the orchestra how Mendelssohn expressed this emotion musically and how it impacted on the structure and melodies of this popular symphony, before the orchestra performs the whole work in the second half of the concert.
