OMAC

Sistema Aotearoa is based at Otara Music Arts Centre (OMAC), corner Newbury St and Bairds Rd, Otara Town Centre. Inaugurated in 1988 by the then Manukau City Council (now Auckland Council), OMAC has over the years played host to local and international musicians.

With a main hall functioning as a rehearsal and performance space, complete with lighting rig, sound system and boxed staging, OMAC also boasts a fully functioning recording studio open to community groups, choirs, school groups and individuals. OMAC’s SoundHouse computer suite offers students access to music and media technologies.

OMAC is home not only to Sistema Aotearoa but to a whole range of music education initiatives, with tutors giving lessons in guitar, bass, drums, keyboard and voice.
